How It All Started

The Acceleration Academies and Sontag Prize were created by Lawrence Public Schools Superintendent Jeffrey Riley during his tenure in Boston Public Schools. The Academies were created as a way to marry two distinct needs: celebrate the best teachers and accelerate learning for their students by maximizing time during school vacation weeks.
